Braves Baseball Broadcast Boring

The braves have lost by changing.

At first the word was that Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren were being 'relocated to broadcast radio' and the Braves wanted to draw a younger audience and target a certain demographic in television. Because nothing says younger and target demographic like Don Sutton and Joe Simpson.

Whatever.

When will TV execs learn that a certain portion of viewers don't even need announcers? Just the sound of a milling crowd and the public address would be enough to soak in a game.

You can tell how well AOL is run by looking at their name. They didn't even think about global dynamics when they started to take off. 'America' Online kind of limits your reach overseas and across borders. Yet, they ran with AOL.

With the recent anti-American backlash AOL is going to start feeling it in the teeth. Not to mention they don't seem to understand what the internet is about, anyway. They'll still get a few million people too lazy or too stupid (that's harsh, how about not 'net savvy?) to switch to broadband or high speed access. So they'll be around for at least another 18 months.

But you might have noticed more junk mail in your mailbox. You might have noticed more telemarketer calls and of course more spam in your AOL mailbox. Ever call AOL Tech Support and then been rudely transferred to a Cendant representative trying to sell you something?

Eh. Just venting.
