Stop Us Before We Injure, Again

After reading through the MLB decision to cancel the trip to Japan for the Mariners and Athletics we were quite dismayed. We had a lot of thoughts that rambled around. Here are a few in no particular order (since when does rambling need order?);

UTTERANCE
While it was a safe decision to make, it was also uncourageous and if we can borrow the hard line right-wing defense "unpatriotic". If MLB is trying to share the "American past time" with the world, it certainly should stay clear of snubbing the nose of the Japanese and not call attention to the fact that the not so Far East is a hot bed of socio-political unrest.

UTTERANCE
It's a good thing the A's aren't going, they need the day and a half they lose in flight time alone to work on a few guys who are injured and sort out the roster.

UTTERANCE
Not going actually causes more problems since the A's have to make all of those arrangements to stay the extra week in camp. Maybe they'll come to Sacramento early, that wouldn't be too bad.

UTTERANCE
What? Does the calendar and clock not work when you pass the International Dateline? The A's don't get any more time just because the trip is cancelled. They still could have done 90% of the stuff they need to do in the air. They have exercise bikes, therapy tables, ice, heat, food, water, laptops, phones...it's not like they aren't on a chartered flight for crying out loud. Maybe they couldn't pitch off the mound, but they could still do a lot more than people realize.

UTTERANCE
Isn't the whole idea of terrorism to put fear and, well, TERROR, on the board? So, how does rearranging your life fight terrorism? Doesn't that mean you are succumbing to it?

UTTERANCE
War? What is it good for?

UTTERANCE
I'm just talkin' 'bout Shaft, baby.

UTTERANCE
Wrong song, idiots.

UTTERANCE
If the A's made money on this either way, that would be great. If they lost money, that would be bad. By the way, free 401K advice is available by request.

UTTERANCE
Does it bother anyone else that every time an athlete is in a TV commercial they are always wearing a jersey of some sort to point out who they are? Are we supposed to think that they walk around like that in everyday life? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of paying a 'name brand' athlete in the first place?

UTTERANCE
Is Bush going to be called a 'WIMP' like his father if he doesn't go into Baghdad, now? How many seconds past the deadline until 'Bush is a pussy' T-Shrits are printed?

UTTERANCE
Hey, we could still make the April 3rd game AND the BP Pizza Feed.
