DURAZO DEAL AND MORE BOBBY'S

The A's have announced they have come to terms with Erubiel Durazo. Details of the deal were not announced....or even written. More than likely it is the listed $4.7 Million plus some incentives when all is said and done. No word on an option year for the deal.

Also, The A's picked Kenny Williams' pocket and grabbed Bobby Smith from the Chicago White Sox. Bobby is from Oakland, so add another local to the A's system. More than likely Smith is headed to AAA Sacramento as an insurance measure. Just add these up:
  • 31 Years Old in 2005

  • 31 Year Old Infielder

  • 5/2 Strike out to walk ratio in his minor league career

  • Couldn't stick with Atlanta, Tampa Bay or the ChiSox

Can he get on base? Eh, no. He doesn't hit for a high average and he's never had more than 50 walks in a season. But, he had a ton of extra base hits last season and he could thrive in the PCL. Pencil him in the line-up for 120 Games as a RiverCat and he'll hit 35 doubles and 25 homeruns.
