A's TAME TIGERS

Vote 0 Votes

With the exception of Carlos Pena, who is batting .500 with 2 HR this series, the Tigers aren't doing much. Then again, that's their M.O. for the most part.

I mentioned yesterday that Mark Ellis needs a day off. I stand by that statement. He got two leadoff triples yesterday and Mabry added another.
The problem is, Terrence Long came up with a man on third and less than two outs TWICE and failed to drive in the runner. Terrence has repeatedly said that his batting average, on-base percentage and OPS don't mean anything. The only stat that means anything to him is batting with runners in scoring position.

Stranding a guy at third with less than two outs is unacceptable if the A's are going to beat up on teams the way they should. It's absolutely asinine if they are going to make it to the post-season to allow Long to not come through in those situations, even hitting in the eight or nine hole.

Huddy looked better and it showed in the win column.

I'll mention more about the staff tomorrow.
